President’s Comments – Week of March 14, 2016

Dear Rotarians,

Our host for this Friday is John Sajevic and our guest speaker is one of our own, Doug Shiple, General Manager of the Fremont Golf Club.  Doug’s tenure at the Golf Club started in January of 2015, but his start in the hospitality industry started some 30 years ago as he made his way through the various jobs along the way.  Prior to the Fremont Golf Club, Doug was Club Manager and Controller at Midlothian Country Club, just south of the Metro Chicago area.  Doug is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in accounting and is also a CPA.  His program will be about the Golf Club as well as commentary on his job as manager and the running of such an organization.

Our Rotary Ag Day last Friday was a success.  We had over 50 guests and over 100 total people in attendance.  Thanks to all the Rotarians who brought a guest.

You may want to mark your calendar that March 25 is Good Friday, and we do not have a Rotary meeting that day.  Our monthly board meeting will be on Friday, April 1.

Also, our Dueling Pianos event was a success, and our net profit was $14,000.  We are also nearing the end of the Rotary Foundation Campaign drive, and thus far we have donations totaling over $14,000 with only 11 Rotarians yet to contribute.  Hopefully, we will hit our goal of 100% participation.

Mark your calendar for Rotary on Friday, and hope to see you there.

Gary
