Rotary – February 5, 2016 – Officer Jim Butts – Resource Office at Fremont Public Schools

Officer Jim Butts of the Fremont Police Department, who is the Resource Officer at the Fremont Public Schools is a native of Ponca, NE and a graduate of Ponca High School, class of 1990.  After high school Jim joined the United States Marine Corps, where he earned a Non-Commissioned Officer rank (NCO) and was in charge of and responsible for an armory with over $1.5 million dollars worth of weapons and equipment.

After his military service Officer Butts was employed at Wilson Trailer Co., Sioux City.  He then attended Western Iowa Community College in Sioux City where he earned an associate degree in Police Science Technology.  Jim joined the Fremont Police Department in 1999
