Rotary – Holiday Words from President Darrell

Dear Rotarians,

Along with celebrating the birth of our Savior, this wonderful season is also a time to think about the gift of good friends that Rotary brings to us and the love of our family.  It is also a time to reflect on the good we are trying to do in our community.  May I remind you as I attempt to hit only the highlights and I probably will miss something, so be tolerant and forgiving.  We bought hundreds of books for youngsters; we put $2000 worth of needy items, and fun things too, in backpacks for kids going back to school, in cooperation with the Presbyterian church’s program; we made our last payment on a $10,000 pledge to the YMCA Sid & Hazel Dillon Aquatic Center; and we just delivered 50 bicycles this past week to the Salvation Army, Care Corps and The Hope Center (made possible by our $3000 gift to the Wishing Wheels Project.)  We also gave $2000 to an Outstanding Teacher and many smaller donations to various agencies and causes.

So Rotarians it has been a good year.  Cherish and celebrate this most precious of gifts—and remember this season, and every day, how lucky we are to be the givers.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  See you Friday January 6th.

President Darrell
