President’s Message – September 11, 2015

Dear Rotarians,

Our Rotary host for this Friday is Maggie Diers Yost and her guest speaker is Chuck Schroeder who is the Founding Executive Director of the Rural Futures Institute at the University of Nebraska. The Rural Futures Institute was established in 2012 by the NU Board of Regents. The mission of the RFI is to mobilize the diverse resources of NU and its partners to support rural communities and regions in building on their unique strengths and assets. Chuck is a Nebraska native, a graduate of NU, and a Rotarian. He is also the founding CEO of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the former President and Executive Director of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, former Director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, and former Executive Vice President of the NU Foundation. I am also told he still ropes cattle, so make plans to attend Rotary this Friday for what is going to be an excellent program.

Remember this Friday we will draw for a $10 Hy Vee gas card that will go to someone who has been fined during the last two months at Rotary. July and August fines resulted in $138 and 69 names “for the hat,” so some Rotarian’s name will be drawn for the gas card.

Results of the Fly-in Breakfast and Husker Raffle Ticket sales are now final. Our club had net proceeds of $3,790.65 for the Fly-in and $2,892.38 for the Husker Tickets Raffle for a total of $6,683.03. Congratulations to our members.

Hope to see you Friday at Rotary. Mark your calendar.

Gary Bolton
