President’s Weekly Comments – August 7, 2015

Dear Rotarians,

Our program host this week is Bob Missel and his guest speaker will be Amy Weidner. She will talk about her mission trip to Guatemala for Habitat International. Amy and her husband, Terry, live in Elkhorn with their two children, Jillian (16) and Jenna (13). Amy is a representative with Thrivent Financial, and is a graduate from UNL with a BS in business administration and has an MBA from UNO. The mission trip to Guatemala was quite an experience, and she will share with us some really interesting information.

Just as a point of information for those members who might not have been at last week’s meeting, I plan to give away a $10 HyVee gas card every other month to a Rotarian. The members who have been fined at a meeting will have their name put it the hat, and at the first meeting of every other month, a name will be drawn, so the only members eligible are those who have been fined. I will start this with the first meeting in September.

Janell Tesarri was our drawing winner last week, and it was only fitting due to her hard work on the literacy project that enabled us to be recognized with an award at the United Way Hats Off to Literacy Luncheon recently. Our club also had a matching grant from the District that enabled our club to donated $4,000 to the Back to School Back Pack program. These are great examples of the good things our Rotary club does for the community of Fremont.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Rotary Fly-in Pancake Feed which will be held Sunday morning, August 23rd at the airport. Tickets to sell will be distributed to the members who attend this Friday, and the rest will be mailed out next week.

Thanks for making our club so successful.
