Rotary – August 11, 2017 – Americorps Volunteers


Four young Americans working for AmeriCorps in Fremont at Habitat for Humanity will speak to Rotary about their experiences working in Fremont and around the country.

They are Joy Graves – 21, from Bedford Virginia, has dreams 4 siblings; dreams of culinary school Post-Americore NCCC

Chris Watt – 24, from Boston, loves science and taking the road less traveled.

Kim Snyder – 23, from New York, has a BS n Environmental Science  and enjoys working with nature.

Ashli Hollis – 20, from Kentucky, went to Job Corps before joining NCCC.  Loves to work with children and unwind with music.

AmeriCorps NCCC is a service experience where youth ages 18-24 spend 10 months traveling and working together to complete hands on service projects.

This Cedar 7 group has been in Fremont since July 14, working with Fremont Habitat for Humanity.  They spends Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays on the construction site, Wednesdays in the Habitat Store, Tuesdays working with Rebuilding Together.

Habitat applied for and received has grant opportunity to have this group come help build homes and work in our community First Lutheran Church is allowing them to sleep at the Church during their stay here.  They will be in Fremont until August 31.
