President’s Comments Week of April 26, 2016

Dear Rotarians,

I apologize for the length of this email, but I have some information that needs to go out to all members and this is the easiest method.

First, thanks for the great attendance at last week’s Rotary meeting.  Senator Sasse did an excellent job in his presentation, and it was good to see so many guests attend.  Thanks for your support.

This week, our host and speaker is our own Rachel Wise, President of the Nebraska State Board of Education.  Rachel does an excellent job on this State Board, and we are pleased she has agreed to update us on what tasks and challenges face the State Board of Education.  Please mark your calendar and plan to attend.

Finally, one of our main Rotary projects for the community and the surrounding area is Bookfest, which is a joint venture with Fremont Area United Way.  As you may or may not know, we assist in helping to fund this project by purchasing and distributing books to every K – 4 student in the 13 school districts in Dodge and Washington counties.  The time to distribute these books is rapidly approaching.  I am asking for some of our Rotarians to assist in the delivery of these books to the schools.  Below are the dates, times and locations for these deliveries.  If you wish to help, and many of you did last year, please contact Shawn Shanahan, Director of Fremont Area United Way and also one of our most recent new members to our Rotary Club.  You can contact her at her email address which is shawn@fremontunitedway.org .  The dates are:
