President’s Weekly Comments – February 29, 2016

Dear Rotarians

If you missed Rotary last Friday, I for one, think you missed a very educational and entertaining program about Trinity’s Comfort Dog Ministry.

This week Marlin Brabec will be hosting Jeff Wearden, the manager of Scoular Grain Co. in Fremont.  In his position, Jeff is responsible for the buying and selling and transportation of many millions of dollars of grain and corn to and from their facility here in Fremont.  For those of you not familiar with the larger entity called Scoular Grain Co., they are the 66th largest, privately-owned corporation in the U.S. and the 28th largest exporter. They buy grain from all over the mid-west and corn mostly locally and then re-distribute it, literally, all over the world. Their business amounts to nearly $6,000,000,000. Annually. (that’s six billion, folks) Promises to be an enlightening presentation and a good lead-in to Rotary Ag Day the following Friday. Remember to bring a guest (ag- related if possible) and let President Gary (at gbolton@neb.rr.com) know about your guest.

This will be the end of my 2 weeks at the podium. Hope Gary had a good vacation and that I didn’t degrade the position too much. See you Friday!

Darrell
