Dear Rotarians,
The Rotary host for this week is Pam Murphy, and her guest speakers are Diane Stevens (Principal) and Daniel Moran (Teacher) at Washington Elementary School. They are in charge of the new Dual Language Classroom at Washington Elementary School. The weekly bulletin will contain more information about each of them and how this unique classroom works at Washington School.
The Fly-in Pancake Feed and the Husker raffle ticket sales were certainly successful this last Sunday. The boy scouts who assisted us by making the pancakes and sausage and serving our guests certainly did a great job. We served 625 people and thanks to all the Rotarians who helped to make this event a success. I want to say a special thank you to Darrell Puls who headed up the fly-in event with assistance from Jennifer Benson and Steve Tellatin, and also Jeff Elliot who headed up the raffle ticket sales. When I have final expenses and proceeds tabulated, I will share it with all of you; but for now, we did quite well with this event.
I would also like to thank those individuals and businesses that helped sponsor the Rotary Fly-in breakfast event. Husker raffle ticket winners were Keith Lallman, Annette Swartz (Wahoo), Becky Poppe (Fremont), Ken Beebe, Jerry Hendrickson, Tim Bryson and Vince O’Connor. Congratulations to each of the winners.
Rotary received a gift last week from Cox Communications in the amount of $500. This is a charitable donation given on behalf of Rotarian Tim Bryson. Tim’s business hosted a party for them and they in turn donated money to our Rotary Club at Tim’s request. Special thanks go out to Tim and Cox Communications for this wonderful donation.
Just a quick reminder that you have an opportunity to participate in a fund raiser for the Bergan Booster Club this coming Saturday at Diers Ford from 9 to 4 p.m. They are sponsoring a special test drive event with proceeds going to Bergan Booster Club. Last Friday, the same type of event was sponsored by Buick and Sid Dillon with proceeds going to Fremont High School. We had lots of Rotarians participate in the Buick event as I know they will also do for the Ford event.
We had great attendance at Rotary last week, so mark your calendar and try to attend this Friday. See you at Rotary.
