Jeff Kappeler and Judy Ekeler will be today’s Program – Dodge County Historical Society and May Museum!

 

Jeff Kappeler is a native of Dodge County and 1974 graduate of Midland College. He was the former curator at John Brown’s Cave Museum in Nebraska City for ten years. He is a presenter for Humanities Nebraska and has served as the Director of the Dodge County Historical Society/May Museum for the past four years. He has been associated with the May Museum for over forty years.

Judy Ekeler

Bachelors degree in education from UNL, Masters degree, UNO

Taught in Nebraska elementary schools for 25 years, 23 of those in Blair.

Following retirement has been active in volunteer work in the Fremont area.

  • Served as Historical Chairperson for John C. Fremont Days
  • Served on board of Fremont Area Hospital Foundation
  • Served on board of Fremont Family YMCA
  • Currently serves on board of Friends of Fremont Parks
  • Member and past president Chapter EX P.E.O.
  • Member Colonial Dames XVII Century
  • Member and past regent of Lewis-Clark Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution
  • Past State Regent, Nebraska State Daughters of the American Revolution
  • Currently serves the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as National Vice Chairman of Historic Preservation Grants.
  • Member, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Fremont
  • Currently President of the board of the Dodge County Historical Society where she serves as a docent.
