Hello Rotarians!

Another lucky Friday the 13th Rotary meeting featuring our own State Senator David Schnoor.  Bob Hillis is the designated host, however Bob may be away with business tomorrow so if that’s the case I’ll make the introduction.

We also have our German exchange Student Jackie Lang attending as Rachel Wise’s guest.  Hopefully Jackie will update us on her experiences in Fremont.

Darrell Puls is having a brief opening planning meeting for the Fly-in Breakfast at 11am tomorrow before our meeting at FGC.  We are still needing some others to help out so if you are interested you are welcomed to attend.  Now that we have the NU football tickets from Regent Jim Pillen we can get going with the plans for this event.

The project committee for the April 10th DuelingPianos at The Gathering has finalized plans for this fund raising event.  Please plan on attending, invite guests and help support this event. Sherry has mailed out the RSVPs and other information.Ann Stephens and Mike Thomas with Ken Beebe have secured Fremont Rotary’s sponsoring area students at the upcoming Rotary Youth Leadership Academy later this spring.  Good work Rotarians!

A reminder to consider your support for the Alex Lamme run/walk event on Saturday, March 21st.  See the flyer at our web site:  www.rotaryfremont.org

I attended District Grant Certification seminar in Lincoln last Saturday.  We are required to have two members certified in order to take advantage of the grant opportunity.  Another seminar is scheduled in Omaha next month. I think we have two others who are going to try and make this seminar in April, but I’d encourage anyone else interested in this for the upcoming Rotary year 2015-2016 to let me know.  The seminar was well run and lasted two hours.

This past year we used this to help fund our support of the YMCA Aquatic Center with donations for the purchase of equipment for special needs youth for the Special Olympics.  This equipment is also available to all who use the facility.  We will make a formal presentation with a plaque later this month at the Y.

As you see, we have quite a bit of Rotary activity coming up in the near and distant future.  Plenty of opportunities for Rotary service!

See everyone tomorrow!

Steve
